Munich, 4th September 2018 – SevenVentures, investment arm of the ProSiebenSat.1 group, today announces the finalists for its SevenVentures Pitch Day (7VPD) 2018, the prestigious competition for start-up founders. From physical products such as fresh,organic baby food and health foods made from beans to digital submissions such as an online platform for car repairs and online therapy courses, participating start-ups will showcase a range of innovative ideas for the end consumer from a variety of different sectors.

The SevenVentures Pitch Day is now in its eighth year and has helped numerous companies, including Hafervoll, Withings and GetYourGuide, with their breakthrough. The winner will receive a media package from the ProSiebenSat.1Group which not only features a multi million TV advertising budget but also includes €30,000 for the creation of a TV spot. In addition, the winner will take home €200,000 in online marketing and a four-month mentoring program from Procter & Gamble, the leading consumer goods company worldwide. The aim is to give a growth boost to fast-growing B2C start-ups with unique products or services and a scalable business model.

 

In the final: yamo, Edamama, Caroobi and Selfapy

Four companies have been selected to participate in the eighth 7VPD on 12th September at the DMEXCO in Cologne: 

  • yamo is a start-up that produces and distributes fresh, organic, additive-free baby food in     Switzerland and Germany. yamo products are preserved using an innovative     high-pressure pasteurisation (HPP) technology which does not damage vitamin content or taste.
  • Edamama produces delicious     food for a healthy lifestyle. Under the slogan "smarter ingredients     for better foods", the team in Berlin and Zurich works to reinvent     everyday foods such as pasta or bread. Edamama's vision is to free mankind from diets.
  • Caroobi is bringing trust back into the car repair and service market. The Berlin start-up offers fixed prices for vehicle repairs and parts using online diagnosis and offers repair in more than 700 certified workshops throughout Germany.
  • Selfapy provides scientifically-sound online therapy courses to combat stress, sleep disorders, depression, anxiety and eating disorders in the form of videos, articles and interactive exercises that take users through the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy.

All four start-ups will present their ideas live on stage in two-minute pitches to a jury of industry stakeholders and experts. On the jury this year are entrepreneur, founder and ex-tennis pro Michael Stich, Managing Director of Sales at Procter & Gamble DACH Astrid Teckentrup and SevenVentures Managing Directors Eun-Kyung Park and Florian Pauthner, who as a two-person jury team will evaluate the start-up presentations together. Once again 7VPD will be presented by Steven Gätjen.

The winner will be determined in two rounds. In the semi-final round,two sets of two start-ups will compete against each other.  Firstly, yamo takes on Edamama, the two physical product start-ups, then Caroobi will compete against Selfapy, the two digital services. The grand finale will feature the two winners of the respective semi-finals. All four companies will also have a stand at the DMEXCO.

Media-for-Equity transforms start-ups into household brand names

The four finalists are competing against each other to win an extensive media and service package consisting of €3 million in TV advertising spend,€200,000 in online marketing budget and €30,000 for the creation of their own TV spot. In addition the prize features a four-month mentoring program from Procter & Gamble. A team of experts from P&G will assist the winning start-up with issues in the operating business. The winning start-up will therefore be able to draw on the entire marketing and sales knowledge of all prize sponsors.

The SevenVentures Pitch Day has been held annually since 2012 and former winners include Hafervoll, Withings, Cashboard, GetYourGuide and Popsa. According to Forbes, the SevenVentures Pitch Day is one of the most important start-up competitions worldwide.
